My name is Karin P, and I am formerly an alien parisienne. Now I am experiencing “do-overs” in Denver.

I arrived in Paris in 2008 and left in 2012. At the blog An Alien Parisienne, I wrote about feeling like an “outsider” in Paris. Gluten and dairy intolerant (and now meat-free, too) and often ambivalent about the city everyone seems to adore, I learned to love and appreciate Paris on her terms one day at a time.

Now I find myself back in the town I have called “home” for the better part of almost 40 years, with a few years here and there in other places, including time spent living in the UK, China, Tulsa, Dallas, and, most recently, France.

I’m reconstructing a life (yet again!) in my mid-40s; not what I expected out of life, but what life has served up. Like having a bunch of containers of assorted leftovers in a fridge, I am trying to figure out what I can combine to serve up a second (or third, or fourth) time around.

I can say one thing: it’s not boring! And I am learning how to recombine elements and season my life so that it is once again a flavorful and enjoyable experience.

Join me on my latest adventure here at Do-Overs in Denver.

  2. Good luck with your new adventures Karin! I did not realize you left Paris :-(. Well, given my soon-to-be-wife is from Colorado, I hope to swing by Denver sometime :).

    • Darnit, Animesh! I typed a comment here earlier, and it has gone astray! I am not sure how it got lost. In any case, first, I just wanted to thank you for coming here and commenting, and second, HOW COOL that Anjali is from Colorado! I did not know this! That’s great, and yes, I certainly hope that all of us can connect someday in Colorful Colorado. I would love to see you both. Keep me posted if you ever will be here!

You take care, thank you again for visiting the new blog, and here’s to a future meet up in the Mile High City. 🙂

    • Thank you, Tigresse.

Honestly, I have been focusing these past weeks on the DO part of “Do Overs in Denver” and not dedicated the time to write here, lol. I really need to get a plan going with it… I think it will come!

I’m trying to be patient with myself in it all. 😉

      • I like the focus on the DO, that’s definitely the way to go! the writing will come with that 🙂 It’s very important to be patient, I tend to be hard/demanding on myself too, but it doesn’t help!
